Rooster redemption
We are beyond grateful to have spent time with these incredible souls, they transitioned knowing love and we will never forget them.

Sid was our 7th rescue. He was hatched in a school hatching project.  Sid passed away unexpectedly in February 2017 and necropsy showed liver issues.

Cletus was our 11th rescue. He was seized from a cockfighting operation in Colorado. He was named by donor Ashley Riddle. Cletus passed away suddenly on June 5, 2017 just over a week after we got him home. He died knowing freedom, peace, and sunshine.  Necropsy showed blood clot.

Sammy was our 20th rescue. He was rescued from a religious mass sacrifice (Kaporos). He was a Cornish Cross chicken, the type bred for "food." He was named by donor Simon Hefty.  Sammy passed away on 1-11-18, necropsy showed liver and kidney failure.

Tom Petty was our 22nd rescue. He was rescued from a religious sacrifice (Kaporos). Donor BeckyMundie requested we name him, Mark named him Tom Petty because these guys came home the day he died. Tom Petty passed away on 1-27-18, necropsy showed liver issues.

Cain was our 3rd rescue. He was hatched in a kindergarten classroom with his brothers Koda and Nacho, then given away to a backyard chicken farmer. Once he started crowing, he was no longer wanted because roosters were prohibited. Cain passed away in January 2018, necropsy confirmed Marek's Disease.

Sir Henry was our 6th rescue. He was hatched in a school classroom in May 2016. He was named by donor Catherine Lleras.  Sir Henry passed away on 3-24-18, necropsy showed two tumors.

Little Foot was our 21st rescue. He was rescued from a religious sacrifice (Kaporos). He was named by donor Natalie Singer. Little Foot passed away on   7-5-18, necropsy confirmed congenital heart failure.

Foghorn was our 30th rescue. Found wandering on the street in Minnesota, he was brought to an animal lover who is not zoned for roosters so he found us. He passed away in June 2019, necropsy results confirmed Mareks Disease.

Hal Jordan was our 8th rescue.  He came to us after escaping a religious sacrifice in MN.  He passed away tragically after another rooster got into his run.  We miss him dearly, he was a gentle soul.

Boris

Boris was our 34th rescue. He came to us at 3 months old at 16 pounds from a woman who bought him as a chick because she didn't want him to be slaughtered.  He was bred to be huge and suffered because of it. 

Tshua

Tshua was our 4th rescue. He was found, fostered, and named by donor Amy Leinen in 2016. He was going to be used in a religious ritual. The cause of his death was heart disease.  He was so special there are no words to even describe him, but you will see him in the upcoming documentary Kindred Creatures.  Stay tuned.

Richard

​Richard was our 10th rescue. He was found on the streets of suburbia, most likely dumped because he was unwanted or prohibited. He passed away from kidney failure.  He lived an excellent life with us for a few years and we are so grateful he was part of our family.

Kincaid

Kincaid was our 18th rescue.  He was rescued from a religious sacrifice (Kaporos). He was named by donor Jennifer Driscoll.  He passed away at age 3 years old.

Ginger

Ginger was our 24th rescue. He was found in May 2017 being trampled on by other chicks in a store at 2 days old so someone put him in their pocket and took him home.  He came to live with us early 2018.  Ginger passed away peacefully at home in Melanie's arms due to illness.

Alfalfa

Alfalfa was rescued from Kaporos in 2018. He had the absolute best personality and was loved by so many. He passed peacefully in our arms at home.

Logan

Logan was our 15th rescue. He was an “oops rooster” and lived with us for 3 years. He was tragically attacked by a predator and during wing amputation surgery he passed away. He was one of a kind and we miss him dearly.

Koda

Koda was one of our original roos who started Rooster Redemption. He was discarded after a school hatching project and landed here in 2016. He had mobility issues for a year leading up to his passing and was a resilient determined warrior. He passed peacefully in our arms at home.
